Tucked away in a peaceful woodland glade above Porlock Bay, Being Wood offers the perfect base to slow down, breathe deep, and savour the wild beauty of Exmoor. If you're wondering what a perfect day in Porlock might look like — here's one to dream about (or live for real).

Two painted stones that say just breathe and make a wish with the sea in the background

Wake Up to Birds and Breeze

You rise with the light filtering through the trees, the soft rustle of leaves, and a gentle chorus of birdsong. The sea glimmers in the distance, and a mug of coffee by the fire pit feels just right. Cook up a relaxed breakfast and take it all in: nature, peace, space to be.

Morning: Stroll to Bossington Bay

After breakfast, lace up your boots and take a gentle walk down to Bossington Bay. This pebbled coastline, framed by dramatic hills and marshland, is a haven for wildlife and one of the most scenic spots on the Exmoor coast. Let the sea breeze fill your lungs and the open skies reset your mind. Take off your shoes and paddle your toes.

Lunch at Kitnors Tearoom

Back in the hamlet of Bossington, settle in for lunch at the charming Kitnors Tearoom and Garden. Tucked inside a National Trust cottage, Kitnors serves homemade cakes, fresh lunches, and a cream tea worth walking for. Sit outside if the sun’s shining, and enjoy the old English garden vibes.

Afternoon: Porlock Pottering

From Bossington, wander into Porlock village, full of character, local crafts, and friendly faces. Browse the independent shops, pick up handmade gifts, or stop by the visitor centre to learn more about the landscape you’re part of. For something sweet and homemade, head to Bake Me Crazy,

Dinner at The Ship Inn, Porlock Weir

In the evening, head down to Porlock Weir, a picturesque harbour just a short drive or scenic walk away. Here you'll find The Ship Inn, a cosy pub with sea views, real ale, and seasonal dishes — the perfect reward after a day exploring. Grab a table near the fire or outside in the warmer months.

Night: Stars and Stories by the Fire

Back at camp, light the fire pit and settle in under a canopy of stars. With little light pollution, the skies above Being Wood are dazzling — you might even spot the Milky Way on a clear night. Bring a blanket, a glass of something lovely, and let the night settle around you.

Optional Extras

Being Wood is all about escaping the ordinary and reconnecting — with yourself, nature, and the rhythms of the land. Whether you're in for long hikes or slow moments, the perfect day is waiting just outside your tent flap or camper door.
