With its wild cliffs, windswept beaches, and ancient woodland, the Exmoor coast is no stranger to inspiring stories. And now, it’s set to shine on the big screen — as the backdrop to the film adaptation of Raynor Winn’s best-selling memoir, The Salt Path.

Hitting UK cinemas on 30 May, the movie brings Raynor and Moth’s powerful journey to life, following their walk along the South West Coast Path after losing everything. Their story of resilience, love, and reconnecting with nature has touched hearts around the world — and much of it was filmed right here.
Key Filming Locations Near Us
If you're staying in our woodland glade, you're already in the heart of Salt Path country. Here are some stunning spots from the film you can visit nearby:
Minehead
The official start of the South West Coast Path — and the beginning of Raynor and Moth’s journey. The beach, promenade, and dramatic views from the headland all make an appearance in the film.
Culvercliffe Walk & North Hill
Just outside Minehead, this gentle walk takes you through ancient woodland and out to open moorland with sweeping coastal views. It’s one of the first wild places the couple passes through, and it captures the raw beauty of the Somerset coast.
Bossington Hill
Part of the Holnicote Estate, this high ridge offers one of the best panoramic views on Exmoor. Its rugged charm and windblown gorse are quintessential Salt Path landscapes — and it’s just a short walk from our glade.
Porlock Weir
This tiny harbour village, with its weathered boats and peaceful charm, features as a moment of rest and reflection in the film. It’s an ideal stop for wild swimming, fresh seafood, or simply soaking in the stillness of the sea.
Want to Walk It Yourself?
Whether you’re retracing the steps of The Salt Path or simply craving some soulful coastal walking, this stretch of Exmoor is rich with paths, pubs, and places to pause.
Our campsite is the perfect base for exploring these locations — just a stone’s throw from the coast path and tucked away in peaceful woodland, with a sea view of your own.
Bring Your Camera (and Walking Boots)
As you explore these cinematic spots, take time to slow down. Raynor and Moth’s story is as much about the inner journey as the miles walked — and this part of Exmoor has a way of helping you reflect, reset, and reconnect.
The Salt Path is in UK cinemas from 30 May — but the real magic is still here, waiting for you, in the rustle of the trees and the crash of waves on the shore.
